Cause we’re busy with so much stuff!! But the busiest of us all must be David Scott Stone, cause he’s out touring on guitar with LCD Soundsystem. So if any of you are wondering what’s up…he’s busy. But it ain’t over. In the meantime, watch him rip it up on this weird TV show from the UK.

ASKA is putting the finishing touches on her solo EP and in honor of it, Aaron is directing her first video! The clip and the record will be released in March. Here’s Aska on the set in the Columbia Gorge in Oregon. You can imagine what this video is gonna be like!! Stay tuned….

The Sads Live at Agnes B. Will Be Out On Cassette Next Month!!

Yes that’s right! As we prepare for our next record, we thought we’d fill in some time with a this small cassette offering. Recorded on a laptop in 2008 at the Agnes B. store in Los Angeles, this tape is 40 minutes of LIVE SADS pleasure. The performance features a very early version of the song, “Hold On” which was later recorded by Dave and Aska’s solo project, AsDSSka, as well as our 20 minute epic, “I Wish God Were Alive To See This” which will be on the next record, but has never before been heard. Also includes favorites “Pas Deux” and “My Love”. We hope to have delivery by January 1st. Limited to 100 copies!! Email us to order.

If you haven’t heard of Lance’s amazing show on VBS, this is a good chance to check it out. This episode called “Family Portrait” chronicles the lives of an amazing group of artists, musicians, and all-around creative powerhouses that surround the Family Bookstore in LA (where we played our first show!!). Our music is used throughout the piece, but you can see us play live in the store at the end of Part 2 during the credits (above). This was a special unannounced show (filmed by Lance and Spike Jonze) so it’s pretty special that it’s here to check out. Enjoy!!

Hello! For those of you that have been wondering, here’s another report on the various goings on in the world(s) of The Sads. First off, it looks like our Berlin EP is finally going to be released! Yes! We know, it was recorded over a year ago, but we all got busy and sidetracked and well, you know, these things take time. Anyway, we’re hoping to have it out early in 2010. There are some mumblings within our ranks that hopefully some sort of tour will follow that as well. We’ve got lots of ideas. Stay tuned. In the meantime, on the solo-projects front…Aska is currently in the studio in Los Angeles recording her first solo album. It’s going to be really amazing and includes guest performances by Nick DeWitt, Lucky Dragons, Flea and more!! here’s a photo we snuck the other night!!!

If any of you have been wondering what The Sads have been up to recently, we are taking a short hiatus to work on songs for our album and explore side projects. The most exciting side project as of late is the new 7″ single by AsDSSka!! As the name suggests, the group is Aska and Dave from The Sads. The record is released through Family Books in LA and can be ordered through their website: www.familylosangeles.com. Check out this beautiful video for the project collaboratively directed by Spike Jonze and Crystal Moselle.
